“It Was Magic…” Jelena Dokic Sparks Engagement Buzz as One Romantic Detail Emerges From European Getaway

Jelena Dokic and her partner Yane Veselinov are enjoying a European getaway, but reports suggest their romantic trip may have carried a far more significant meaning.

The former Australian tennis star, 43, recently shared a series of affectionate memories from Macedonia, Yane’s home country, describing their time together as “magic”.

“It was magic. A wonderful time in Macedonia,” Jelena wrote on Instagram.

“Thank you my love @yanedonist for the amazing memories and moments. It was truly magical to experience this with you.”

Engagement whispers emerge

According to a source quoted by Woman’s Day, there are whispers that Jelena and Yane may have quietly become engaged during the trip.

The claim has not been confirmed by the couple, but speculation intensified after Yane reportedly took Jelena to several meaningful places connected to where he grew up.

Among them was the historic Church of Saint John at Kaneo, a picturesque medieval church overlooking Lake Ohrid and a location often associated with romantic celebrations.

The source suggested the setting would be fitting for Jelena should she one day choose to marry.

Adding further interest, Jelena was also pictured wearing what appeared to be a diamond ring during the holiday, which included time in Croatia.

Again, neither Jelena nor Yane has publicly confirmed an engagement.

A relationship Jelena once said was worth waiting for

Jelena and Yane, a hospitality operations manager, publicly revealed their relationship in July 2025.

At the time, Jelena shared an emotional tribute to her partner.

“You are my calm, safe, peaceful and happy place,” she wrote. “So glad I found you.”

Their relationship came several years after Jelena’s 19-year relationship with Tin Bikic ended in 2021.

Jelena later spoke openly about taking time to heal and reconsider what she wanted from her personal life.

“I just want a really good person”

Speaking on the Something To Talk About podcast last September, Jelena said happiness had become the most important thing to her.

“The most important thing is that we’re happy. I’ve had to do a lot of healing, a lot of soul searching,” she said.

She explained that for a period she was uncertain what her future would look like, including whether she would find love again.

But Jelena said she felt grateful to have eventually met someone she described as kind and generous.

“I always said, ‘I just want a really good person.’ I’m glad I’ve been able to find that.”

For now, the couple has kept the meaning behind their European trip to themselves — leaving the romantic photographs, Jelena’s heartfelt words and those engagement whispers to fuel speculation about what their next chapter might hold.
