There is a new chapter ahead for Sylvia Jeffreys and Peter Stefanovic, and this time, their two young sons are preparing to take on a very special new role.
The Today Extra presenter and her husband, Sky News host Peter Stefanovic, have announced they are expecting their third child — and there was an especially joyful surprise waiting for the family.
After welcoming two boys, Oscar, six, and Henry, five, the couple revealed that their next baby will be a girl.

Sylvia, 40, shared the news on social media on Sunday morning, posting a series of family photos with Peter and their sons.
Her message was filled with the kind of excitement that comes with knowing the family is about to change once again.
“Oh baby… number 3 is on the way and the boys are already taking their big bro duties seriously.”
Then came the reveal.
Sylvia explained that it was Oscar who got to tell the family they were expecting a little girl.
And judging by his reaction, it was a moment the family will remember for years to come.
A little girl after two boys
Sylvia joked that their daughter will have to get used to a house full of football memorabilia and hand-me-downs.
“We hope she digs footy merch, because there’ll be a lot of hand-me-downs,” she wrote.
“Jump on board, baby girl. It’s fun here.”
The announcement prompted an immediate wave of congratulations from Sylvia and Peter’s television colleagues and friends.
Among those celebrating the news were Samantha Armytage, Leila McKinnon and Lauren Tomasi, who all shared their excitement for the growing family.
For Sylvia and Peter, the arrival of their daughter will mark another major chapter in a family story that began nearly a decade ago.

From their first baby to a family of five
Sylvia and Peter married at Ooralba Estate in Kangaroo Valley, New South Wales, in April 2017.
Their first child, Oscar Hamilton Stefanovic, was born in February 2020. Sylvia and Peter later welcomed their second son, Henry, in April 2021.
Now, five years after becoming parents for the first time, the couple are preparing to welcome their first daughter.
And for their two boys, the excitement has already begun.
A very different kind of moment for Sylvia
The happy family announcement comes at an interesting moment in Sylvia’s professional life.
With Sarah Abo currently on maternity leave, Sylvia has recently stepped into the Today studio to help fill the breakfast television chair alongside Tom Steinfort.
Nine has been testing different combinations as it looks for the right long-term line-up following Karl Stefanovic’s departure from Today.
According to the latest reports, Samantha Armytage and Tom Steinfort have emerged as a strong pairing after their recent stint together helped lift the program’s ratings. Armytage is expected to take up the role later in August, while Sylvia has continued to be part of the Today team in the meantime.
But away from the ratings battle and television reshuffle, Sylvia now has something much more personal to look forward to.
A little girl is on the way — and Oscar and Henry are already getting ready to become big brothers once again. ????????
