The role took him from regional communities to major events and destinations around the world. During his farewell broadcast, Qantas representatives revealed that his travel with the airline amounted to the equivalent of circling the globe approximately 16 times.
The figure offered a striking measure of a job that frequently kept him on the move and living out of a suitcase.

Nine has not yet announced Davies’ permanent replacement.
Although his departure adds another change to the program’s familiar line-up, Davies leaves with the support of his colleagues and a body of work that extended far beyond daily forecasts.
