The pair met nine years ago, have been married for four, and have a two-year-old son, Lando.

Lisa is a Block superfan who has long dreamed of being on the show. Rosco says, “It’s my job to support Lisa’s dreams”.

The pair were so busy trying to keep up with the pace of the intense 12-week build that it took them a while to realise they were the team with the least building experience.

“We were too busy surviving,” Lisa says.

Despite the challenges of The Block, the pair are working on building their dream family farmhouse 40 minutes outside of Perth.

Week 1: House Decider Challenge (4th place)

This married couple from Perth hoped that a niche would literally be their niche this week in meeting the “light, white and bright” brief from judge Darren Palmer.

Their ‘feature egg’ wall niche wasn’t the point of difference they’d hoped for. Marty Fox was “confused”, and he and Shaynna Blaze agreed that the details and panelling chosen by the couple felt mismatched.

The judges said the room didn’t match

and lacked luxury; however, they were commended for trying something different. The judges hoped they would take advantage of critiques early on in the season to improve, and left them with a score of 19.5.

Week 2: Family Bathroom Week (5th place)

A tiling disaster and being struck down with sickness cost the couple in Family Bathroom Week.

A rough week for the couple resulted in rough scores.

Sickness and a tiling disaster held Lisa and Rosco back, and their relaxing, spa-retreat-style hopes were shattered by their failure to deliver a completed bathroom and powder room to the judges.

“I think this might be the most unfinished room in Block history, potentially,” Lisa said sadly.

“What a week to have a tiler issue – there’s $250,000 on the line, and they’ve run into this,” Marty said. “But hey, this is the reality of renovating – this happens every day to people, and unfortunately it’s happened on such a big week.”

“Breaks your heart – this is really sad,” added Darren.

Seeing beyond the flaws, the judges liked the layout and left the couple with a score of 15.5.

Week 3: Main Bedroom and Walk-In Wardrobe Week (1st place)

A triumph from the bottom of the score board last week to the top for Lisa and Rosco in Main Bedroom and Walk-In Wardrobe Week. Photo: Nine

After not finishing their bathroom last week, Lisa and Rosco were in need of some happy news, and they got just that when they discovered they have a baby on the way.

This might have just given them enough motivation to nail the brief and finish a stellar Main Bedroom and Walk-In Wardrobe.

The couple’s wardrobe design was set prior to the couple swapping houses with Courtney and Sev, and walking in, Marty immediately saw the connections between this space and the prior winning rooms from the girls.

The judges then credited Lisa and Rosco for their decisions on top of the girls’ ones as “icing on the cake”.

The judges feel that the wardrobe is giving both quiet luxury and coastal living, with highlights including a vanity with natural light and the use of Eclos stone.

They mistook the use of lime plaster for Venetian and praised the look and feel of the bedroom, and Shaynna enjoyed the coastal-style curve behind the bed.

They did note that they were missing blockout blinds and shutters behind the sheer curtains; Shaynna said, “What a bummer because it’s almost perfection.”

The couple scored the highest points of the season so far and finished in first place with 27.

Week 4: Main En Suite Week (5th place)

It’s a rollercoaster on the scoreboard for Lisa and Rosco again from first place last week to last this week.

The couple hoped their choice to add faux crazy-pave flooring in the en suite would set them apart from the rest and be worth the extra time and effort that type of tile takes.

It did, however, mean they ran overtime and failed to finish their bathroom – again.

Despite the room being unfinished, the judges immediately enjoyed the rustic look. Darren said, “This vanity is the last thing you’d expect – but I love it.”

But none of the judges loved the faux crazy-pave flooring, which Marty described as “very Flintstoney”. “Not a fan at all, find it quite weird,” he added.

Darren concurred, saying that the tile choice “feels inauthentic”.

The room felt too busy to all three judges, and Shaynna said, “Too much going on in the room, and it feels a bit messy.”

“It’s like my kids came in and threw a lot of things at the wall,” added Marty.

This left the couple at the bottom of the scoreboard off the back of their win last week, with a score of 20.5.

Week 5: Living, Dining and Terrace (2nd place)

Despite having all hands on deck, including hired family members, Lisa and Rosco once again worked right up to the finish line in the hope of avoiding last place.

Walking in, the judges were quietly impressed by their living and dining space.

“I love this room; buyers are going to walk in here and love it,” Marty said.

The judges felt the dining table should have been larger given the scale of the room, but Shaynna said the colour palette was “just right”.

Like his assessment of House 2, Darren felt the layout needed work and again failed to take full advantage of the views.

On the terrace, Marty said he could “literally not fault it” and declared: “I think it’s the best one we’ve seen.”

Darren, however, had layout concerns here too, believing the home’s vantage points had once again been overlooked.

“To say that I’m frustrated would be the biggest understatement of the day,” he said.

That may have cost the couple the win, with Lisa and Rosco finishing in second place, just one point behind the winners on 26 points.

Week 6: Guest Suite (3rd place)

Bathroom delivery has not been Lisa and Rosco’s strong suit, and Guest Suite Week was no exception.

A tradie from House 2 even came to help them finish their en suite.

The judges immediately noticed they were the first couple to deliver a study nook in a bedroom, though it wasn’t to their favour. “Nup, studies are done,” said Marty. “You’re not gonna sit there and do your GST returns, are you?” The judges felt the study nook would have been better used to address the “pitiful” amount of storage.

They described the rest of the bedroom as basic and showed little enthusiasm for the styling and colour choices. Marty didn’t think it was luxe enough for the home’s price point.

The bathroom may have been the couple’s saving grace this week, with the judges adoring the tiles and what Darren described as “the best vanity we’ve seen today”.

“All of it is heaven,” Darren gushed.

“This would be my first 10,” said Marty. “Can’t fault it.”

It was the bedroom that let them down on the scoreboard, however, with the couple finishing in third place on 23.5 points.

Week 7: Kitchen Week (2nd place)

Using a beautiful dark timber for their kitchen cabinets set Lisa and Rosco apart from the competition. Photo: Nine

Lisa and Rosco had big plans to set themselves apart from the rest of the Blockheads in Kitchen Week, opting for dark cabinetry and a huge, almost five-metre-long island bench.

The gargantuan island immediately proved a hit with the judges.

“The colour, the size – wow,” Shaynna said.

Darren wasn’t sold on the styling, describing it as a “wedding banquet”, but Shaynna had no issue with the look.

Their kitchen is filled with beautiful arches, another feature that won over the judges.

“I never thought I’d say I like an arch again, but these arches … I feel like I’m being taken to another land,” Shaynna said.

Their attention to detail and the continuity between the kitchen and living space also earned a tick of approval.

Darren was particularly impressed by the focus on functionality, noting that Lisa and Rosco had clearly thought carefully about how the kitchen would actually be used day to day.

“I would live here without a doubt. It’s stunning,” Shaynna said.

The judges loved the space so much that Shaynna even joked about purchasing the home herself, while Marty predicted there would be plenty of buyers competing for it on auction day.

Their powder room attracted a few critiques, ultimately costing the expectant parents a perfect score. They finished in second place with an impressive 28.5 points.

Week 8: Rumpus Room and Laundry Week (2nd place)

Another close call on the scoreboard for Lisa and Rosco. Photo: Nine

After narrowly missing out on Kitchen Week, Lisa and Rosco were hoping for a win with their high-tech rumpus while staying out of the drama.

They chose to carry the dark timber cabinetry from the kitchen, complete with archways, into the rumpus space, much to the judges’ delight.

“This feels like a rumpus,” said Shaynna.

“Oh wow,” Marty said, noting that it felt like a bigger room than House 2 despite having the same layout.

The judges suggested the team change the splashback in the kitchenette, but Darren adored the “inviting, luscious palette in this house”.

The laundry was equally well received.

“Glorious,” said Marty.

“Beautiful,” added Shaynna.

The judges particularly loved how the dark cabinetry matched the dark-toned washer and dryer.

“No notes,” said Marty.

Bridesmaids again, Lisa and Rosco finished in second place with a score of 28 for House 3.

Week 9: Kids Room and Redo Week (2nd place)

Desperately trying to secure a win and some much-needed cash to finish their build, Lisa and Rosco headed into Kids’ Room and Redo Week with renewed hope, drawing inspiration from their own son, Lando.

They were the first of the five teams to deliver a genuine kids’ room for the judges to inspect.

“Oh, finally we have a kids’ room!” Marty said.

“This is so sweet; it doesn’t feel clichéd, it feels very Australian,” Shaynna said, admiring the Australiana wallpaper in the reading nook.

“This is the first time I’ve smiled today,” she added. “You can feel the love in the room.”

Darren agreed, saying the couple had “knocked it out of the park”, although he did spot some unfinished painting on the skirting boards.

The team’s guest suite was next up as their redo room, and the judges immediately loved the added texture and styling, as well as the larger bed.

“This is luxury; I think this is one of the nicest bedrooms on The Block,” Marty said. “I absolutely love it.”

“This is a big success. If they’d painted the skirting in the kids’ room, this would have been a 10,” Darren added.

Sadly, the unfinished skirting cost the team a perfect score, leaving them one point short. They finished in second place with 29 points.
