HL.Au- Part 2: Classified Command Under the Basement — Rookie Revealed as Legendary Ghost Operator

The fine desert dust whirled heavily in the air as heavy combat boots pounded against the cracked urban pavement.

Captain Miller dived desperately behind a crumbling concrete wall, his lungs burning with every quick breath.

CRACK! CRACK!

Enemy high-caliber sniper rounds struck the decaying masonry right above his head, shower of dusty debris falling onto his shoulder.

Miller turned toward the quiet young soldier crouching beside him, his voice strained under the deafening gunfire.

“Sniper at twelve o’clock! Hold position, I’ll take care of this!” Miller shouted over the noise.

Lean and composed, rookie Jack gave a single nod without showing any panic in his dark eyes.

Miller took a deep breath, leaned out from the corner, and squeezed the trigger of his M4A1 rifle.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Three spent brass shell casings ejected into the dusty air, hitting the ground with sharp metallic clinks.

Before Miller could assess his shots, incoming heavy suppression fire shattered the corner of the concrete wall inches from his helmet.

The sheer shock wave forced Miller to duck back, wiping grit and pulverized concrete from his tactical eyewear.

Suddenly, Jack’s hand entered Miller’s line of sight, pulling the pin on an M18 smoke grenade with effortless precision.

Jack tossed the canister directly into the middle of the open street, creating a dense wall of gray smoke within seconds.

Without waiting for Miller’s order, Jack vaulted over the low barricade and charged headfirst into the thick haze.

He slid across the broken tile floor of an abandoned building, bringing his heavy SCAR-H rifle up into a vertical stance.

BANG! BANG!

Two powerful rounds penetrated the upper window frame on the third floor where the enemy shooter was perched.

A second later, the sniper collapsed over the windowsill and plummeted three stories onto the gravel below.

Miller rushed forward through the fading smoke, his face pale with adrenaline and utter disbelief.

He grabbed Jack by the shoulder, reaching out to pull aside his torn collar to check for catastrophic bullet wounds.

As the fabric pulled away, the harsh sunlight caught the ink etched into Jack’s collarbone.

It was a classified, crossed-out “Ghost Operator” emblem tattoo, reserved only for tier-one military legends.

Miller stepped back, his hand trembling uncontrollably as his voice shook.

“You’re… the ‘Ghost of Fallujah’?” Miller gasped.

Jack smirked quietly, pulling his tactical balaclava back up to conceal his features.

“I used to be, Captain,” Jack replied softly. “Before I was officially erased from command records.”

Miller stared at the young operator, trying to reconcile the urban legend with the rookie assigned to his squad.

“The high command told us the Ghost of Fallujah died during the black-ops extraction in 2017,” Miller murmured.

“That was the official narrative to keep the shadow unit undetected,” Jack said, checking his rifle magazine.

“Then why are you here, posing as a low-ranking replacement soldier in my unit?” Miller asked firmly.

“Because the man who leaked our intel in Fallujah six years ago is running this exact operation today,” Jack revealed coldly.

Miller’s blood ran cold as the implications sank deep into his mind.

“Are you saying someone in our chain of command is a traitor?” Miller whispered.

“The basement below this building holds the encrypted server containing the traitor’s real identity,” Jack explained.

“And my mission is to extract that drive before high command orders a localized air strike to destroy the evidence.”

Just then, the heavy iron floor hatch leading down to the basement creaked open from inside the darkness.

Two heavily armed mercenaries in unmarked black tactical gear stepped out, weapons raised.

Jack moved like a shadow, grabbing the nearest mercenary’s rifle, twisting it aside, and driving a combat knife upward into his vest seam.

The second contractor leveled his shotgun, but Miller fired a rapid two-round burst from his sidearm, neutralizing him instantly.

“Looks like I’m coming down to that basement with you, Ghost,” Miller said, reloading his pistol.

“Keep your head down, Captain,” Jack replied, clicking his tactical laser sight on. “It gets dark down there.”

Together, the veteran captain and the shadow operator descended into the underground darkness to unmask the command traitor.
