After almost two decades as one of the familiar faces of The Morning Show, Kylie Gillies may be beginning to think differently about what she wants from the years ahead.
The Channel Seven star recently reunited with her eldest son Gus in Europe after months apart, and according to a new report, the family time has prompted Kylie to consider what her next chapter could look like.
Nine months and 16,000 kilometres apart
In December 2025, Kylie farewelled Gus at Sydney Airport as he prepared to begin a new life in Berlin.
The 23-year-old had secured what was described as his “dream job” in film and commercial production, taking him around 16,000 kilometres from home.
Soon after his departure, Kylie admitted on social media that she had been feeling “wobbly” as she adjusted to the change.
Nine months later, the family finally had the chance to spend meaningful time together again.
A long-awaited reunion in Europe
Kylie and her husband Tony travelled to Berlin, where they were able to see first-hand the life Gus had built for himself in the German capital.
The trip also gave them the opportunity to meet some of his new friends before the family continued on to Greece.
Kylie later shared her excitement about being reunited with Gus, saying she was “so happy” as she documented their time together.
The European holiday also included the couple’s younger son Archie, Gus’ girlfriend Charley and members of Tony’s family.
Family time appears to have sparked reflection
According to New Idea, the reunion became more than simply a long-awaited family holiday.
A source told the publication that the experience had been something of an “awakening” for Kylie and Tony, particularly after having both of their sons together again.
While Kylie has spent almost two decades maintaining a demanding television career, the report suggests the trip may have encouraged her to think more seriously about how she wants to spend the next stage of her life.
Family, it seems, has become an increasingly important part of that conversation.
A major milestone is approaching
The timing is particularly significant for Kylie.
She is set to turn 60 in May 2027, while the same year will also mark approximately 20 years since she began co-hosting The Morning Show alongside Larry Emdur.
Those two milestones are reportedly prompting some bigger questions about what comes next.
Rather than signalling a permanent farewell to television, however, the report suggests Kylie may simply be considering giving herself more time away from her usual routine.
Could Kylie step back for a year?
A source quoted by New Idea claims Kylie is considering whether to “take a step back for a year” and enjoy a slower pace.
There have also reportedly been discussions between Kylie and Tony about spending an extended period in Europe.
One idea said to have been floated is renting a home in Berlin for a year, allowing them to remain closer to Gus while also using the city as a base to travel through Europe.
At this stage, Kylie has not publicly announced plans to leave The Morning Show or confirmed that she will take a year away from her television commitments.
Her sons remain at the centre of the picture
Gus appears to be thriving in Berlin, despite Kylie understandably missing having him closer to home.
A source told the publication that Kylie would love to see her eldest son return to Australia one day, while also recognising that both Gus and Archie have their own ambitions and lives to build.
Archie, 21, has been studying design in Sydney and has also moved out of the family home.
For Kylie and Tony, that changing family dynamic appears to have made their recent time together even more meaningful.
A different next chapter
For now, Kylie remains one of Channel Seven’s most recognisable daytime television personalities, and no official change to her role has been announced.
Still, with her 60th birthday and a 20-year television milestone approaching, the European reunion appears to have arrived at a particularly reflective moment.
Whether that ultimately leads to a year abroad, more time with family or simply a different balance between work and life remains to be seen.
