“We’ve got something to confess”: Clint Stanaway’s baby journey takes an unexpected turn

Three months after revealing he was preparing to become a father with his close friend Eliza Paschke, former Weekend Today star Clint Stanaway has shared a surprisingly candid update.

The Nova 100 breakfast presenter and his co-parenting partner recently found themselves facing a rather basic problem: despite being more than two-thirds of the way through the pregnancy, they had barely bought anything for their baby.

And so, the pair headed to Baby Bunting — with plenty of laughs, a few dad jokes and more than a little uncertainty along the way.

“We’ve got something to confess”

In a video shared to Instagram, Eliza, a former The Block contestant, revealed just how unprepared the pair had been.

“We’ve got something to confess,” she began.

“We are more than two thirds of the way through this pregnancy, and we have not purchased a single thing for the child or the child’s room or anything….”

With a laugh, Eliza suggested the situation was partly Clint’s fault before announcing that it was finally time to get organised.

“We’re at Baby Bunting. We need to get the main things at least.”

The pair were joined by Eliza’s sister Scarlett as they began searching for some of the biggest essentials, including a car seat, bassinet and pram.

Clint quickly realised fatherhood comes with a lot of decisions

For Clint, the shopping trip appeared to be something of a learning curve.

“Where do we start?” he asked as they wandered through the baby aisles.

Eliza jokingly told him he was “so embarrassing”, while Clint did what he could to lighten the mood with his trademark dad jokes.

Eventually, the pair turned to Baby Bunting employee Simone for help choosing some of the essentials.

Clint even admitted they needed a little “emotional support” as they tried to work out exactly what their baby would need.

Behind the laughter, however, the moment marked another significant step towards a new chapter for both of them.

A family that will look different — but be full of love

Clint first announced the pregnancy during his radio show in June, becoming visibly emotional as he opened up about the news.

“I’m going to be having a baby with a really good friend of mine,” he shared.

“Her name’s Eliza and we’re going to be using a co-parenting model to have this child.”

The arrangement means Clint and Eliza are not romantically involved, but will raise their child together.

“We’re going to have a different looking family but a family that’s not going to have any shortage of love in it,” Clint said.

For the presenter, the reality of becoming a father had already hit him hard before he had even begun preparing the nursery.

“It took my breath away”

Clint became emotional while recalling the first time he saw his unborn baby.

“Hearing the heartbeat and seeing your baby there, it was just like, ‘Wow… this is special’,” he said.

“It took my breath away.”

He then looked ahead to the moment he would finally meet his child.

“And I can’t wait for you to meet my little boy or girl.”

The experience has also carried a bittersweet layer for Clint, whose beloved grandmother passed away before he had the chance to tell her that he was going to become a father.

It is one of the reasons the pregnancy has been an especially emotional chapter for the former Channel Nine star.

Eliza’s long road to motherhood

For Eliza, the journey has also been years in the making.

The former The Block star previously revealed that she used her prize money from the renovation show to help fund egg-freezing treatment.

In a 2024 column for nine.com.au, she explained that she had been single and without assets at the time, and had saved enough money for an overseas holiday.

Instead, she chose to put that money towards her future.

“I wouldn’t be able to do it without those winnings because as a lot of you know it is an investment,” she wrote.

Her decision ultimately became part of a much bigger journey towards motherhood.

A new chapter, one purchase at a time

Now, with the pregnancy well underway, Clint and Eliza are finally beginning to prepare for the arrival of their baby — even if their first major shopping trip was somewhat chaotic.

Eliza has previously described Clint as a “wonderful human” and said she was “so happy” to be sharing the parenting experience with him.

Their family may not follow the traditional path, but from the beginning, both have been clear about one thing: their child will be surrounded by love.

And as they left Baby Bunting with the first of those long-awaited essentials, the reality of that new life seemed to be getting a little closer.
