‘How Much?!’: The Staggering Amount Meghan Markle Is Getting Paid for One MasterChef Appearance
The Duchess of Sussex could rake in an eye-watering six-figure fee for her surprise appearance on MasterChef Australia during her tour Down Under.
Meghan Markle is believed to have earned a fee that could change most people’s lives for her brief appearance as a guest judge on Network 10’s MasterChef Australia.
The Duchess of Sussex, 44, filmed the cameo on Wednesday, during the second day of her and Prince Harry’s tour Down Under, and the episode will air during the cooking show’s 18th season.
Network 10 announced that Meghan would appear alongside judges Jean-Christophe Novelli, Poh Ling Yeow and Sofia Levin, to “help guide some of the most impressive home cooks the competition has ever seen”.
The duchess was described as a “passionate foodie”, and her cameo comes off the back of her own Netflix cookery show, With Love, Meghan.
“We’ve had MasterChef royalty in the kitchen before, but no one like this,” Ling Yeow says in the teaser clip.
“All the way from sunny California… the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle!”
Meghan’s cameo follows a list of high-profile celebrity appearances, including Katy Perry, Gordon Ramsay and Jamie Oliver.
It was reported that Katy Perry got paid a whopping $100,000 to be a guest judge in 2020, and TV commentators have predicted Meghan’s fee will be even higher.

According to showbiz news outlet TV Blackbox, insiders have estimated she could be paid around $380,000.
Sky News Australia has contacted Network 10 for verification.
MasterChef Australia is not Meghan’s only paid gig during her time in Australia.
She will headline the Her Best Life Retreat in Sydney, where she will hold an “in-person conversation” and pose for pictures with guests paying up to $3,199 a ticket.
It is not known exactly how the As Ever founder will be compensated for her appearance, but organiser Gemma O’Neill previously said she was “doing it as a favour” for their mutual friend, Markus Anderson.
Meanwhile, Harry will reportedly pocket around $70,000 to deliver a keynote speech at the InterEdge Summit in Melbourne.
The duchess’s MasterChef appearance has divided viewers, with some accusing her of cashing in on her royal title.
“Meghan Markle spent the day collecting another paycheck from MasterChef Australia,” one critic wrote on Twitter.
“They introduce her as ‘Royalty’ and ‘the Duchess of Sussex’. This trip was never about veterans or mental health. This video makes me sick.”
Others defended the duchess, pointing out that she and Prince Harry need to generate their own income now that they are not working royals.
“One thing that is now clear (and has always been) is that though Prince Harry and Meghan were told to make their own money, them actually doing so has unleashed such a level of spite,” a fan hit back.
“At this point, I’d love to ask, ‘other than none, what forms of money making do the establishment think is acceptable for Harry and Meghan’?”
“I blame MasterChef Australia more than Meghan, to be honest. She’s just cashing money, but they agreed to and are paying her,” a third commenter declared.
