Her uncle is a top Sydney plastic surgeon…

Married At First Sight Australia is already proving to be a dramatic season – but one emotional moment has come from Bec Zacharia, who has opened up about her life-changing mouth surgery.
The star – who is currently appearing on MAFS Australia, paired with Danny Hewitt – has addressed online speculation, revealing she underwent chin surgery at the age of 21.
‘I was actually born with a jaw, sort of a chin defect,’ she explained. ‘Everyone makes comments about why my mouth is like this or what’s wrong with my jaw, but Uncle Michael had to give me reconstructive jaw surgery when I was 20 or 21.’
The surgery was performed by her uncle, Dr Michael Zacharia – a prominent plastic surgeon whose clients include a roster of elite socialists and housewives. MAFS Australia viewers may well recognise him from Bec’s wedding day, which saw Dr Zacharia attend his niece’s TV wedding.
Bec told the Daily Mail, ‘Michael is my uncle. He’s my father’s brother. We’ve got a very, very close family. He’s a huge support.’
And after undergoing the surgery in her early 20s, Bec revealed how her confidence was utterly transformed. ‘Without him doing that for me, I looked a lot different. I’m so happy that I’ve got this sort of jaw and chin now that he’s done for me, because before that it was really bad.’
Bec has spoken candidly about how she looked before her jaw surgery, admitting that she would change the way she styled her hair to try and hide her insecurity. ‘For my whole life up until my 20s, it was rare that you would see me with my hair up, because I hated my jaw and chin so much,’ she explained.
‘I was essentially born with no chin. IIt was a huge insecurity for me every day of my life for 20 years. When I was 21, we did it. I know people make really negative comments about my mouth and my jaw, but actually it was a life-changing moment for me – and that’s all thanks to Uncle Michael.’
And, per the Daily Mail, Bec isn’t ruling out keeping it in the family for any future tweakments. ‘When the time comes, I’ll be going to him. I really want my nose done, but he says I’m not allowed to.’
