EXCLUSIVE: This season of Married at First Sight has definitely introduced us to some memorable characters, but perhaps none quite as memorable as Gia.
We got our hands on an exclusive copy of Gia’s audition tape, in it she revealed all the details and harsh truths about her first marriage to her daughter’s father.
“I just wanted to get married and have a kid. I was like, ‘He’ll do’,” when she was asked about her former marriage
“It wasn’t a love story, it was like, I wanna be married, this is the ring I want, this, this, this, this, and he was like, ‘OK’.
“He was just a yes man. He was literally broke, like an actual loser living in his mum’s house, but I just saw the potential, and he was a 6’4, tattoos, muscly, hot guy.”
She said that “in theory”, she thought they would have a “good-looking child” together, which was one of the reasons she decided to marry him.
“We did, we had a kid, and that was great, but I was never really in love with him. I just wasn’t.”
When describing what it’s like dating as a single mum, she shared that having a kid had completely changed her view on the type of person she wants to end up with.
She said that previously she would have been all about looks in a partner, but now she’s more interested in whether or not they’re a good person.
“Give me the average guy who’s just so f—ing good that everyone’s like, ‘oh that’s such a great guy’, you know?”
