Liberal Leader Angus Taylor has used his first address to party stalwarts since the federal budget to take a swipe at the Prime Minister’s controversial tax reforms.
Opposition Leader Angus Taylor will accuse Anthony Albanese of being a “chronic liar” and waging a war on the “soul of our nation”, in an address to Liberal Party faithful.
Mr Taylor will take aim at the Prime Minister’s broken tax promises, claiming Mr Albanese had told the “mother of all lies” when pledging not to touch capital gains tax and negative gearing settings ahead of the last federal election.
“The most egregious of all his broken promises,” Mr Taylor will say in his speech to the Liberal Party federal council in Melbourne on Saturday.

“No Australian can trust another word that comes out of this bloke’s mouth.
“Labor’s budget proves that this Prime Minister is both incompetent and a chronic liar.”
He said “battlelines have been drawn” with the Albanese government’s federal budget.
“It’s clear that the Coalition and Labor stand for completely different things and have completely different visions for our country,” Mr Taylor said.
Mr Taylor’s speech comes two days after Treasurer Jim Chalmers introduced legislation to the House of Representatives that intertwines a number of budget measures, including contentious changes to the capital gains tax and negative gearing benefits for investors.
The single Bill weaves together these controversial changes alongside the $250 Working Australians Tax Offset (WATO) and Labor’s pre-election pledge of a $1000 standard tax deduction.

The Coalition, which has supported the WATO and tax deduction, has accused the government of wrapping the changes into one Bill to try to wedge the opposition into passing CGT changes it vehemently opposes.
It has since vowed to vote against the Bill, with Mr Taylor vowing to repeal the tax changes should the Coalition win government at the next federal election.
In his speech to the Liberal Party congregation, the Opposition Leader will also take aim at inflation under Labor, which the opposition has persistently tied to government spending.
“The higher Labor’s inflation goes – and the longer it lasts – the more the government takes from Australians,” Mr Taylor will say.

“And that suits Labor just fine because the Albanese government needs to fund its spending addiction.
“And when Labor runs out of money, it comes after yours.”
He will also spruik the Coalition’s propose Tax Back Guarantee as outlined in the Liberal leader’s budget reply speech.
Mr Taylor will then turn to “mass migration” and criticise the government’s immigration program.
“My criticisms have nothing to do with the vast majority of migrants who have come to Australia,” he will say.
“People who have assimilated, worked hard, built families, helped build our nation, and become loyal citizens.
“My criticism is directed at a Labor Party that’s lost control of our migration system.”
