Sarah made her first media appearance back following the birth of her first child, Sonny, last week, appearing on The Chrissie Swan Show where she was interviewed by Chris.

Their easy natural chemistry and banter not only sparked a fun conversation – it’s led to theories that this may not be the last time we see this duo together!

“Breakfast TV has been on Chris’s bingo card for a while now,” a close insider reveals to Woman’s Day. “The idea of working with Sarah definitely caught his interest. The conversation has sparked a potential shake-up that no one saw coming!”

With Karl Stefanovic’s departure from the Nine Network, there’s been a lot of speculation around who will be Sarah Abo’s Today co-host when she returns from maternity leave – if she chooses to stay with Nine.

“Chris and Sarah surprised each other and have such an easy chemistry that you could put them behind a desk tomorrow and viewers would probably think they’d been presenting together for years,” the insider says. “There’s a real sense that they could bounce off each other brilliantly.”

While Chris remains at Seven, and Sarah at Nine, there’s a mutual curiousity to see what the future could hold.

“Sarah clearly sees something in Chris and Chris was definitely listening when she floated the idea,” the insider continues. “It started as a joke, but sometimes the best TV ideas come out of those throwaway conversations.

“Neither of them is saying they’re about to sign anything, but the fact they’re already talking about what it would be like to work together tells you plenty. If the right opportunity landed on the table, you’d be hard-pressed to find either of them turning it down.”
