Former Home and Away star Lynne McGranger has opened up about the bullying she copped while filming the show,
The 73-year-old Gold Logie winner first aired the details about the on-set behaviour during Sam Frost and Sarah Roberts’ podcast, Cracking On.
She revealed that the bullying was ongoing until she stood up for herself.
While the actor didn’t explain who the culprit was or when it occurred, she told TV Week that the bullying baffled her.
“I couldn’t understand: why me? Maybe because I’m quite gregarious, I chat a lot, I state my opinion, but I never knew if that was really why,” she said.
“But I was very pleased with myself when I did, because once I said something, I was no longer bullyable.”
The 73-year-old said that while she was able to push through the situation, it was hard to handle at the time.
“It did take a toll,” she said.

But she added that the bullying never got to the point where she wanted to leave Home and Away.
“That would have meant that they’d won,” she added.
During her chat on Cracking On, she revealed how she stood up to the bully.
Lynne said the bullying “came from quarters that it shouldn’t have come from”, and while she would have liked to have confronted them privately, it ended up happening in front of a much bigger crowd.
“I remember saying to this person, ‘Are you always an arsehole or is it just towards me?’” she recalled.
“And this person said, ‘Oh, it’s just towards you’.”
What is Lynne McGranger up to these days?
Lynne officially left her role in August last year after nearly 33 years of playing Irene Roberts.
Part of the reason was to spend more time with her husband, Paul, and daughter, Clancy.
She said that while it’s tough giving up a job that has lasted three decades, she is loving her new life.
Lynne said she’s now able to watch TV with Paul and enjoys it when Clancy and her partner come over for dinner every now and then, as she would previously spend hours trying to learn her lines for the following days of filming.
She’s about to star in Channel 9’s new reality TV series, which puts six big-name Aussies in the ocean to check out one of the world’s most fearsome predators.
Shark is set to premiere later this month, and Lynne stars alongside Olympian Ariarne Titmus , influencer and businesswoman Tammy Hembrow, The Block host Scott Cam, ex-NRL player Sam Thaiday, and actor Matt Nable.
It premieres on May 31 on Channel 9 and 9Now.
