A 2026 Australian Idol star has revealed the “confusing, challenging” truth about her living situation just weeks after exiting the high-profile series.
Jacinta Guirguis has revealed the harsh reality of her life, just weeks after landing in the top six on Australian Idol.
The 2026 contestant, best known by her stage name Cynta, took to TikTok to reveal she’d come home “broke”, and with no job or permanent housing following her Idol stint.
“I just wanted to give you guys a real-life update,” Guirguis told her followers.
“I came back from Idol two and a half weeks ago and these last two and a half weeks have been the most confusing, challenging, emotional, exciting time.
“Spending two months in a bubble in Sydney living out my dreams was incredible. But coming back to reality is obviously a hit.”

@__cynta__ REAL TALK: Life after Idol 💙 I feel like I never see anyone talk about the reality of life after idol. Not gonna lie, it taken a lot of courage for me to make this video and post it, because I don’t want to be seen as a failure or anything less. But in saying that, I want to be fully transparent with you all, because this is the reality. It’s a confusing time, but I know soon, everything will fall into place ♥️ #cynta #australianidol2026 #lifeafter #realtalk #reality
She explained that she had returned from the show with “no manager, no booking agent, no label, no nothing”, and that she was “completely independent” – which was “both a good thing and a bad thing”.
“Before I went on Idol, I gave up my job and my rental,” Guirguis, who is living with her sister in Victoria, said.
“And I’ve come back to obviously no job and no rental … I’m unemployed and I need work.”
Guirguis is still continuing to forge ahead with her music in the hopes of building a career, but said she was speaking out as she had “never [seen] people talk about what happens after these shows”.

“I think people assume it’s all sunshine and rainbows and it’s all uphill from here, but that’s not necessarily the case,” she said.
“I’ve had a lot of trouble sleeping. I feel really displaced at the moment and really confused and I’m just hoping that I find my way back to myself soon.”
Guirguis added: “It’s hard … but onwards and upwards”.
Her season of Idol premiered in February this year, with the finale airing last month. 21-year-old Kesha Oayda, a singer from Jindabyne in the NSW Snowy Mountains, was crowned winner over Brisbane-based runner-up Harlan Goode.
