Alissa just told us what really happened before that MAFS dinner party. It changes everything.
If there is one thing we know about Married At First Sight, it’s that dinner parties are usually where things go from zero to one hundred. And this week was no different.
After an explosive argument following the ‘Alternate Matches’ challenge, we watched David drop to one knee at the dinner party and profess his love for Alissa.
On screen, it looked like a grand romantic gesture and a genuine apology, but Alissa’s reaction told a very different story.
Now that the dust has settled, Alissa has shared her side of what actually happened with Mamamia. As it turns out, that romantic proposal might have been less about feelings and more about strategy.

For those of us watching at home, the public proposal did feel uncomfortable. And according to Alissa, behind the scenes, the vibe was just as awkward as it looked.
“He got down on his knee, and I was like, dying on the inside. ‘Get up, you’re embarrassing me,'” Alissa told Mamamia.
“I wasn’t going to tell him I loved him back, because I was not feeling it… how can you tell someone you love them after that s*** that went down that week?”
She also clarified that the “I love you” wasn’t new information. David had apparently saved the public declaration for a high-pressure moment.
“Last night when he told me he loved me [on air], that wasn’t actually the first time David told me he loved me. There’s so much missing context. He’s already told me he loves me, so that’s old news,” she said.
Alissa even claimed that David messaged her that morning to try and coordinate putting on a “united front” for the cameras — and that this missing context explains why she seemed so closed off.
According to Alissa, David’s texts weren’t about checking in on their relationship, but rather about their social media presence.

“That morning he messaged me. I’ve actually got the receipts… And he’s like, ‘Hey, tonight might be a big dinner party. Maybe we should meet up, and go in as a united front.’ So he actually wanted to go in together, and I was like, ‘That’s not authentic because that’s not where we’re at,'” Alissa explained.
“He goes, ‘Oh, well, at least, did you want to meet up before the producers separate us and film our TikToks for continuity? And I’m like, ‘I don’t think TikToks are a priority right now.'”
For Alissa, this was a major red flag that the relationship was being treated as a brand.
“I think he had planned out how he was going to throw me completely. I think it was all a part of his strategy… I just felt absolutely confused and shocked by it, especially after our brief messaging in the morning and how he wanted to catch up for TikToks.”

Having lived through it in real-time, Alissa believes that David received a “protected” edit to hide a serious incident that happened halfway through the experiment.
While she’s keeping the specific details private for now, Alissa hinted that a major breach of trust left David acting out of fear rather than honesty.
“They’ve protected him, because it’s a personal topic. I don’t even think I’d want to talk about it because it’s personal, and I want to protect him in that, but it does make my blood boil knowing that,” Alissa explained.
According to Alissa, this earlier mistake created a ripple effect of silence — leading David to bite his tongue throughout the relationship rather than be real about their problems.
Alissa says David is now “mocking” her online with “immature videos” — but she says she’s staying in her own lane and trying to move on with her dignity intact.
“I’ve got so much dirt on you, mate, but I’m classy, I’m keeping it classy. If that’s what level you have to go down to get your 5 minutes, it’s pretty low bulls***,” she said.
Ultimately, Alissa admits she isn’t perfect, but she’s finished with the lack of honesty. And in the world of MAFS, once the trust is gone, there’s only one thing left to do.
