Dave Hughes has reminded fans to get their skin checked after revealing he had five cancers removed.
The Australian comedian appeared shirtless in a video where multiple bandages on his chest, back and arms were visible.
In the Instagram caption, he shared that he had needed 45 stitches.
“I had five skin cancers cut off today ,” the 55-year-old said in the clip.
Despite not feeling the best, he was determined to get to his next comedy gig in Cowes, Victoria, to avoid disappointing fans.
“It’s a two-and-a-half hour drive away, I’ve gotta get there tonight, the people need me,” he continued.
“If I don’t go, they don’t have fun, and I don’t get paid. But you know what? It’s a gig economy, I could have a month off, but I can’t.”
“What’s 45 stitches between friends?” he captioned the video.
Dave’s warning is a stark one for Australians, who have one of the higest rates of skin cancer in the world.
More than two in three Australians will be diagnosed in their lifetime, with about 2,000 killed each year, according to the Cancer Council.

This isn’t the first time Hughsey has had a skin cancer scare — he’s also had lesions removed in 2016 and 2020.
During the first major skin cancer procedure, cancer was removed from his back. Then in 2020, cancer was removed from his arm and shoulder.
“I got my skin checked and had a couple of cancers cut out. There were parts that had to be sliced and diced, but I’m all good,” Dave told The Herald Sun, referring to his second scare.
“My skin is not meant for this climate, I always joke I should be in Ireland picking potatoes.”
