Robert Irwin’s TV Career Just Exploded with This Jaw-Dropping DWTS Announcement

Everyone’s favourite crocodile hunter is taking the next bold step in his burgeoning TV career with a new part in a Dancing with the Stars spin-off.

Robert Irwin is stepping into hosting duties for a Dancing With the Stars spin off, following the crocodile hunter’s epic Season 34 win.

The 22-year-old won the US version of the hit reality TV dance competition alongside his professional dancing partner, Witney Carson.

Australia’s national treasure will now hang up his dancing shoes in favour of a hosting gig on the spin-off series, Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro.

He will appear alongside a panel of judges, including DWTS pro Mark Ballas and his ballroom expert mother and Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas, and a rotating roster of weekly guest judges.

Irwin announced the new career move in an Instagram post in collaboration with Dancing with the Stars.

“For the first time in Dancing with the Stars history, the greatest dancers will compete for a spot as the next pro,” announced Irwin.

“Let the fiercest dance battle begin.”

The high-stakes reality show will put 12 dancers through a gruelling process, fox-trotting, waltzing, and cha-cha’ing their way into the new DWTS season as a professional dancer, with only one spot up for grabs.

The dancers will live together in a shared house, slightly reminiscent of Tyra Banks’ hit series America’s Next Top Model.

Disney also confirmed the announcement of Dancing with the Stars Season 35, with two guests already lined up.

Summer House star Ciara Miller and The Traitors alum Maura Higgins are confirmed among the new season’s cast that’s set to sweat it out to win the coveted Mirrorball Trophy.

The wildlife conservationist is currently on tour with the franchise, stopping off in eight locations across America, including Sacramento, San Diego, Costa Mesa, and Hollywood.

The youngest son of Australia’s original crocodile hunter, Steve Irwin, is no stranger to the spotlight, having honed his hosting skills with the popular jungle show, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here, the Australian version.

His entrance into television began with Robert’s Real Life Adventures, originally featured on the Australia Zoo’s internal television network, followed by the Irwin family show Crikey! It’s the Irwins, which ended in 2022.

He has become a regular guest on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show, first appearing at 13-years-old, bringing with him a sloth, a dwarf crocodile, and a screech owl.

Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro will premiere on ABC, Monday July 13.
