A Channel Seven reporter has announced they have quit after first walking through the network’s doors 15 years ago.
Channel Seven Adelaide’s Mitchell Sariovski has quit and has announced plans for a very different career away from journalism.
The reporter, 28, will be presenting his final broadcast at the end of April after announcing a surprise career pivot to hospitality on social media on Wednesday.
After almost five years with the network, and 15 years after he first walked through Channel Seven’s doors to apply for a work experience placement, Sariovski is leaving to focus on restaurant franchise The Original Pancake Kitchen.
“Fifteen years ago, I walked into Channel Seven Adelaide as a work experience kid and was told I was too over-enthusiastic and not to come back,” he wrote on Instagram.

“I left thinking the dream had ended before it even began. But it didn’t.
“I found my way back – and became a reporter there. It became everything I’d hoped for – the stories, the pressure, the chaos, and the people who made it all worth it.”
The news reporter admitted it was “hard to leave the dream behind” but “it’s time”.
“Now, it’s about my family – my fiancé Lauren, and our boys, Jett and Arlo,” he continued.
“Thank you to all South Australians who trusted me, after all it’s because of you that I was employed.
“I’m still on your screen for now – but at the end of the month, it’s me signing off.
“After that… the only deadlines will be pancakes on plates, not news on screens.”
Seven News Adelaide’s Jasmin Teurlings was one of many of Sariovski’s reporters who sent messages of support to the father-of-two.
“Go well, Mitch. No one quite does a chase like you do. Well done on an incredible chapter,” she commented.
“We’ll miss seeing you on the TV. You have been an excellent reporter. Wishing you all the best,” another wrote.
Sariovski bought into Adelaide institution The Original Pancake Kitchen franchise in December 2024, according to his LinkedIn profile.
The father-of-two began his career at NBN Television in Lismore as a reporter in 2017 before moving to Seven.
He enjoyed a brief stint at Nine before returning to Seven in 2021 as an Adelaide-based reporter.
