It looks as though there is little that can save embattled Married At First Sight’s Chris Robinson and Sam Stanton’s relationship.
Once one of the experiment’s strongest couples, their marriage hit a major roadblock following an argument over life after MAFS last week.
The fracas culminated with Chris opting to leave during Sunday’s dramatic commitment ceremony.
While the couple have been given a week to try and repair their union, unseen footage hints that there may be no going back.
On the latest episode of Stan spin-off MAFS: After The Dinner Party, Sam was shown a clip that featured Chris ripping into his groom alongside a gleeful Gia Fleur.
Beginning his expletive-laden tirade, Chris declared that the relationship had already run its course.
‘You know, Sam, you just lost the best thing that ever f***ing happened to you,’ Chris said.
‘I stuck out this experiment for five and a half weeks, I dealt with your f***ing s***, and I apologised five times for something that I didn’t even need to apologise for.
‘Sorry that I can facilitate that lifestyle, that I do have a farm, and I do have a property in Sydney. I’m sorry, babe.’
Chris then mocked his reality husband’s frugality, claiming that he never paid for dinner, and his living arrangements outside of the experiment.
‘Like, you share accommodation with three other people and you don’t pay for dinner – I paid for every single f***ing dinner,’ he said.
Gia, who had been grinning like the Cheshire cat during Chris’ tirade, took the opportunity to have her own dig at Sam.
‘I’m sorry, if you’re successful, why are you living in shared accommodation with multiple people?’
Chris was not done, either, continuing to mock Sam over his use of coupons.
‘He was all about coupons, too. I said it,’ Chris added as Gia laughed.
‘He had the coupons like all out ready to f***ing go. When we went to paying for dinner he once got his card and kind of stalled, and I f***ing paid for dinner.’
After watching the footage, a clearly upset Sam slammed Chris’ claims as ‘bulls***t’.
‘The way it worked is I would buy all the food for the house and we would go out for dinner once a week and he would pay for that,’ he said.
‘I live with my best friend at home – it’s not share house accommodation. I’m not going to sit here and defend my… [living arrangements].’
Adding that he believed Chris ‘can’t be wrong’, Sam said that he was especially hurt, given where they were in the relationship before the drama.
‘I think what hurts about this whole thing is that we were at our highlight. We just started being intimate,’ he said.
‘Right now I just don’t think Chris understands how things hurt me or how they make me feel at all.
‘After seeing that, I just feel like we’re not on the same page at all.’
Speaking to Daily Mail in a raw and unfiltered interview, Sam admitted watching the series back has been ‘frustrating and confronting’ – but it was one unseen moment that left him reeling.
‘Watching everything back… it really takes me back to how I felt in that moment,’ he said.
‘But the biggest thing sitting with me now is the unseen footage… I’m pretty f***ing hurt by it.’
Sam said he was blindsided after hearing how Chris allegedly spoke about him behind closed doors – including claims about his finances and living situation that he insists are completely false.
‘Not only was it nasty – it’s not even true,’ he said.
‘I never once used a coupon in the time we were together… I actually think I spent more money than him over the experiment.’
‘I lived with my best friend – not in a share house, dorm room situation like he made it out.’
He added that even if those claims were true, they should never have been weaponised.
‘If I did use coupons or lived with more people, that’s not a reason to insult someone anyway,’ he said.
‘That just makes it worse.’
