EXCLUSIVE: Bec made the tough decision to walk away from her engagement before marrying a stranger on Married At First Sight.
Now she is building a ride-or-die partnership with Danny, but Bec revealed why things ended with her ex-fiancé in her unseen audition tape.
“I would have to beg him to leave the house every three months,” she said.
“He just expected me to work full-time, cook, clean and sit at home, and I wasn’t going to do that. I was not going to marry someone who was not my person, and I knew it.”
Bec felt proud of herself for having the courage to walk away, but was honest about how it led to some big lifestyle changes.
“Walking away and being thinking ‘Oh, I can’t fly business class anymore everywhere and my wages have to go towards a mortgage and vet bills and my own filler’, yeah it was hard,” she shared.
Bec was emotional as she said she felt lonely.
“You do sometimes wake up and you think everyone else is off on their weekends with their partners, and you’re sitting here with your dog,” she said.
She said her dad was worried she’d become “a spinster” and took drastic measures to ensure this wasn’t the case at her 35th birthday party.
“My father did a speech and at the end of it said, ‘Now guys, she’s 35. She’s attractive. She’s successful. Surely one of you wants to marry her.’ ”
Bec, who at the time of her audition tape had lost an 11.5 kilograms, also opened up about how her weight loss had affected her approach to dating.
