Just as the Lachie Neale dust settles, a new scandal has exploded. Brisbane Lions defender Jack Payne has been slammed by his ex-girlfriend, Bronte Dagg, who claims their relationship ended over a “profoundly disloyal incident.” This fresh “betrayal claim” suggests the rot in the club runs deeper than just one player.

Another Brisbane Lions player has been hit by “betrayal” allegations after his ex-girlfriend claimed their relationship ended following a “profoundly disloyal incident”.

AFL defender Jack Payne, 26, was in a relationship with model Bronte Dagg for eight months in 2025, but their romance reportedly came to a dramatic end in October.

On Sunday, the Miss Universe Australia 2024 finalist broke her silence on the split, accusing Payne of being unfaithful.

“I just wanted to say I’m extremely grateful for the love and support over the last few days,” Dagg shared on her Instagram Story.

“For clarity, this was a committed relationship with clear, long-term intentions, that I ended after learning of his infidelity, through a profoundly disloyal incident.

“The relationship was never ‘on and off’ or ‘casual’ by any means.

“I’ve had time to reflect and can genuinely say I’ve moved forward and have thoroughly enjoyed the extra time with my friends and family and will continue to do so.”

Reports claimed last week that Dagg felt a shift in the relationship after the Lions triumphed in the AFL Finals in September, which Payne missed out on due to a knee injury.

“After the grand final, she just thought something was going wrong,” the source claimed to the Daily Telegraph.

After allegedly confronting Payne, Dagg ended the relationship following a loss of trust and “major betrayal”.

Sky News Australia has contacted representatives for Jack Payne and the Brisbane Lions for comment.

Payne and Dagg’s split comes amid increased scrutiny for the Lions following Lachie Neale’s split from his wife Jules, and decision to step down as co-captain.

“I can confirm, with regret, Jules and I have now separated,” Neale, 32, announced in a press conference on January 2.

“I accept this is a consequence of my own actions, and I need to focus on rebuilding that trust with Jules, as the future wellbeing of our children remains our number one priority.

“I am extremely disappointed in myself, and I have put plans in place to do the work on myself so that I can be the best version of myself moving forward.”

Jules, 35, previously revealed how she had been “betrayed in the most unimaginable way” when reports of issues within their marriage emerged in December.

“I want to make it very clear that I am not ‘working through’ anything. I have been betrayed in the most unimaginable way. All I can do now is try to heal and do what’s best for my children,” she wrote in an explosive Instagram post.

The hairdresser also publicly slammed her ex-best friend, Tess Crosley, branding her an “idiot” and demanding she remove images of them together on social media.

“Take these down you idiot, you’re embarrassing yourself,” Jules wrote under Tess’s picture from the AFL Finals.

Lachie and Jules married in 2018 and share two children: Piper, four, and Freddie, one.
